A little less rush. A little more life.

A place to exhale.
A reason to grow.

Family’s Friend is a new institution being built to give every family more room to rest, learn practical skills, and stay connected.

We’re starting with small, real-world experiences and growing toward permanent places of lasting support. The land is the long view. Listening is where we begin.

01 / REST

Room to recover.

Unhurried meals, time outdoors, sleep, and space to think. Company when you want it. Quiet when you need it.

02 / CAPABILITY

Something to carry home.

Practical skills and creative practices that can find a useful place in everyday life.

03 / BELONGING

A wider circle.

Connection with consent and continuity. People and practices that matter after the visit ends.

100 Acre Greens / Two expressions of one purpose

Rooted in place.
Open to possibility.

Explore the original North Carolina property visual and a complete Rogue Valley concept. Both are visions to work toward; neither is a selected or operating property.

Seven generations. A wider circle.

What we inherit.
What we offer.

In Benjamin’s family account, seven generations carried forward different forms of care and competence: settling disputes, working the land, caring for horses, fixing what was broken, creating places for children, and making complex systems work.

Benjamin Parke Foskey is the seventh generation. Family’s Friend is his way of opening those strengths outward, so more families can recover energy, gain useful skills, and find lasting support.

The road from here

Start small.
Earn the next step.

A beautiful place is only part of the dream. The work is to build something useful, dependable, and able to last.

Understand the business model
0CURRENT STAGEListen & define (current stage)

Listen to real needs.

Benjamin is talking with prospective participants, family members, hosts, and practitioners. The goal is to identify one clear audience, one specific need, and one small experience worth testing. Everything is turned into a one-page pilot brief with cost estimates, responsibilities, and learning criteria. No programs are open for booking yet.

1PROPOSED PHASE 1Validate the first experience

Test one good weekend.

A modest two-night restorative retreat for adults at a rented venue (planning case: six guests, two hosts). The rhythm is simple: arrival and dinner on Friday, nature + meals + creative time + optional reflection on Saturday, slow breakfast and one take-home practice on Sunday. Costs, attendance, feedback, and willingness to return are recorded. The pilot is non-clinical. Decision gate: repeat, revise, or stop based on actual evidence, not hope.

2PROPOSED PHASE 2Build the operating model

Make it dependable.

Turn the tested experience into a repeatable program with a documented playbook, full cost accounting (including labor), staffing model, and separate pathways for paid and sponsored places. Family, veteran, and reintegration tracks are co-designed only with qualified partners. Advance only when a team can deliver consistently and the funding covers the true costs.

3PROPOSED PHASE 3Make 100 Acre Greens feasible

Let the work shape the land.

Translate the long-term campus vision into a specific, affordable, operable place. Compare properties, commission professional studies on use, utilities, capital, staffing, and operations. Commit only when site feasibility, funding, and program readiness line up. 100 Acre Greens remains the destination; actual acreage and capacity will be determined by evidence.

4PROPOSED PHASE 4Open & prove the first campus

Open in useful stages.

Open in stages: essential lodging and shared spaces first, then additional services only when people and funding are in place. Track full-season operations, participant experience, staff continuity, maintenance, and economics. A beautiful property alone is not success; dependable operations are.

5PROPOSED PHASE 5Replicate with local roots

Carry the practice forward.

Publish the playbook, train a second team, and test whether another group can create a strong local expression while keeping the core purpose and standards. Each new location must stand on its own funding and local needs.

6PROPOSED PHASE 6End game: a living network

Keep learning, together.

A network of places across the United States (and potentially abroad) connected by shared learning, transparent standards, and local accountability. Growth stays conditional on quality, access, and viable local operations. The intention is to publish what is learned so other communities can adapt the model.

Is anything open for booking right now?

No. Family’s Friend is in research and development. The next concrete step is listening, defining the first offer, and testing it at a rented venue. There are no programs, retreats, or campus stays available yet.

Who is this for?
  • Families and individuals who need more room to rest, learn something useful, and stay connected.
  • People who have been carrying too much alone and would value a wider circle of support that continues after a visit.
  • Collaborators with experience in hosting, learning, operations, land stewardship, or family support.
  • Prospective backers willing to examine assumptions and help shape a credible path to funding (no investment terms are offered on the site).
